Tom Hanks-2-1024x767Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was born on July 9, 1956. He is an American actor as well as a filmmaker and director. Popular for his dramatic and comedic performances, he is considered to be one of the most loved and well-known film stars around the world and is considered an American popular culture icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was a Concord, California native to Janet Marylyn Hanks, a hospital worker and Amos Mefford Hanks an itinerant cook. His mother's family, which was originally called "Fraga", was entirely Portuguese and his father was of predominantly English descent. Tom was raised in the context of a "fractured family". He had no acting experience in college. This is what helped him begin his acting career. He was a part of the auditions in the downtown area of Cleveland for the community theatre show. Then it was announced that he would be invited to Cleveland by the director. This is the point where his acting career started.
